Colorado Springs School District # 11 Chooses Discovery Education Services to Help Increase Academic Achievement
– Digital content, health curriculum, professional development, and hardware provide comprehensive solution –
Silver Spring, Md. (April 29, 2009) – Educators and students in Colorado Springs School District #11 can now access high-quality streaming video, images, health curriculum, and other digital media, thanks to a commitment by school administrators to improve student achievement through the integration of Discovery Education digital services and hardware.
Among the services purchased by Colorado Springs District #11 for its 48 schools are Discovery Education streaming Plus, the digital video-based learning resource containing more than 9,000 titles and scientifically shown to improve academic achievement. In addition, educators can also access Discovery Education Health, the digital standards-based health and p revention library that addresses the needs of the whole student. The district also has selected Discovery Education to provide customized professional development services to help Colorado Springs educators maximize the power of digital media to engage students in learning.
The district will also have access to Discovery Education MediaShare, the Web-based content sharing system that empowers teacher collaboration through uploading, sharing, managing, and distributing user-created or licensed content, as well as Discovery Media Servers. Powered by Dell™ PowerEdge™ servers, Discovery Media Servers allow teachers to access content from Discovery Education locally, preserving external Internet bandwidth.
