Donna began her education career in the high school classroom where she taught for 15 years, served on the Tennessee State Department of Education on the Goals 2000 Task Force, and later moved home to become Superintendent for six years. She also served in state positions including Developer/Administrator of Tennessee Literacy Grant Program and the Executive Council of “Taking Tennessee Teachers to the Top.” Her experience the past seven years has been in the development and use of assessment data to drive instruction and decision making, leading a national team of award winning educators as Director of Professional Development for Discovery Education Assessment. Donna is a dedicated, highly-motivated administrator and teacher with over twenty-five years of experience providing leadership to educators across the country. She was recognized for exemplary service, including honors such as Milken Educator, Teacher of the Year, Career Ladder III Educator, and Vanderbilt University Roundtable Outstanding Leadership honoree of Peabody College. Sound application of pedagogy and theory aimed at the improvement of teaching and learning has been her life long focus.
I would place the professional development that has been provided at the top of the list in terms of quality, in terms of relevancy as well as engagement of the teachers and helping them see the possibilities of their students.
