Courageous Leaders Coffee Chat: Focusing your District on Best, First Instruction
Research shows one of the best ways to improve student learning district-wide is to ensure the consistent use of “best, first instruction” in every classroom. That begins with a shared understanding of what great instruction looks like in classrooms. Yet, too often, high-quality instruction remains ill-defined or simply in the “eye of the beholder.” We’ll share one definition of best, first instruction drawn from McREL’s recent review of scientific studies in classrooms. In addition, we’ll offer some concrete steps district leaders can take (and questions they can ask) to move their systems toward a common definition and application of high-quality instruction in every classroom.
Join us for a closed-door Courageous Leaders roundtable where you’ll hear from Bryan Goodwin, President and CEO of McREL on his best practices, and then open up for a conversation among attendees to discuss best practices, find inspiration, and share ideas.
