Natural Resource

Definition
Resources that are obtained from the earth.

Key Context
Natural resources are raw materials like forests or fresh water. They are necessary for our survival or make our lives better. Natural resources fall into two categories. Renewable resources, like sunlight and wind, never run out. Non-renewable resources take millions of years to produce. Metals and fossil fuels are examples of non-renewable resources. Metals can be recycled for reuse over and over again.
