Kari Byron - Host, Science Head Rush and Co-Host, Discovery Channel's MythBusters
Kari Byron is a born tinkerer and explorer. By the age of 5, she was experimenting on her sister, and using her dolls as crash test dummies. Luckily for her parents, they always caught her in time — right before her little sister took a ride down a laundry chute or recruited her for an "around-the-world" attempt on the playground swings.
After graduating from San Francisco State University and traveling the world, Kari began her career as a sculptor and painter, holding successful exhibitions at some of San Francisco's leading galleries. "Artist" was only one of many hats she wore while searching for her place in the world. Her sculpting skills — and penchant for odd jobs — soon led her into the field of model-making and toy-prototyping, which led to a job with Jamie Hyneman at M5 Industries. It was at M5 that Kari got her big break with Discovery Channel's MythBusters …and the rest is history.
Kari is thrilled to host Head Rush
, an all new, one-hour, commercial-free program on Science, made for middle-school students, but fun for the curious kid of any age. Her aim is to inspire and excite us about the wonders of science and show science at work in our everyday lives. No subject will go unexplored! Kari dives into mathematics, science, technology, engineering, natural history and space with hands-on experiments, video shorts, viewer questions and answers, games, and special celebrity visits from other members of the Discovery TV family.
In addition to Head Rush
, Kari is also the Host of Large Dangerous Rocket Ships and Punkin Chunkin on Science.

Dave Salmoni - Large Predator Expert and On-Air Host, Discovery Education and Animal Planet
Dave Salmoni is Animal Planet's apex predator expert and is host of a number of Animal Planet and Discovery Channel programs including Rogue Nature, Predator vs. Prey, Into the Lion's Den and After the Attack, all series that he hosts and produces.
Salmoni, wears many hats. He's a zoologist, a renowned animal trainer, a television presenter and a producer with his own South Africa-based production company, Triosphere. And, Salmoni successfully has been able to marry all these titles, emphasizing one common denominator - his love for animals.
In early 2000, Salmoni was offered a life-changing opportunity to be the first to travel with two captive-bred Bengal tigers to Africa and train them how to hunt and survive in the wild. Salmoni combined his trainer and zoology techniques to achieve this conservation goal, which was documented in Discovery Channel's Living with Tigers. Following this experience, Salmoni lived among African lions for three months in an attempt to show that lions and humans can co-exist in the same area; this journey was captured in the documentary Into the Lion's Den, which aired on Animal Planet and Discovery Channel.
Born and raised in Sarnia, Ontario, Salmoni always surrounded himself with wildlife. This lifelong love affair, curiosity and passion encouraged Dave to partner with Discovery Education. Dave’s knowledge and personal journeys educates and inspires classrooms the world over. Dave has recently partnered with Discovery Education on the Siemens We Can Change the World Challenge.
Outside of his native Canada, Salmoni enjoys Yellowstone National Park and South Africa, where he has lived for five consecutive years and since then, he continues to visit three months out of the year.
