Home> Volume

Volume is the amount of space that an object occupies, measured in liters, or centimeters squared
Key Context
When you measure the volume of a liquid, often you report the value in units of liters, which are measured with a graduated cylinder. The volume of a solid is either measured directly based on the shape of the object, or indirectly from the displacement of water. Since a gas occupies the volume of its container, it can be compressed or expanded.

Greek/Latin Etymology
Latin root volume meaning “roll, coil.”
