Discovery Education Announces Chuck Amos as Vice President of Digital Techbook Strategy & Business Development

Silver Spring, Md. (June 1, 2011) – Discovery Education announces the appointment of Charles “Chuck” Amos to vice president of digital Techbook strategy & business development. Discovery Education is the leading provider of high-quality curriculum based digital content and professional development resources whose services are available in more than half of U.S. schools.

With nearly 20 years of experience in the education market, Amos is a strong advocate for the effective application of educational technologies and digital content in America’s schools. Prior to joining Discovery Education, he held positions focused on domestic and international sales management, organizational development and strategic business development. Amos’ expertise and rich background in education will be a valuable asset to the growth of Discovery Education.

As vice president of digital Techbook strategy & business development, Amos will oversee the expansion of Discovery Education’s digital textbook line of business. Discovery Education is leading the effort to bring digital textbooks to American classrooms through the Discovery Education Science Techbook. Four states, Florida, Indiana, Louisiana, and Oregon, have approved Discovery Education’s digital science service as a core instructional resource for elementary science instruction.

“Chuck is a highly regarded member of the industry, bringing to Discovery an outstanding reputation in the education space,” said Kelli Campbell, senior vice president, Discovery Education to whom Amos will report. “His keen understanding of the business will be an invaluable resource, and help expand Discovery Education’s Techbook into schools across the country.”

Amos began his career in education with EDTECH, and later joined Apple for an eight-year tenure as account executive and central region manager. In 2003, he was appointed CEO of Atomic Learning, where he was responsible for all aspects of the company’s organizational direction, objectives and initiatives. Amos later founded The Amos Group, LLC.

Amos holds a bachelor of science degree in business with an emphasis in finance from the University of Minnesota – Carlson School of Management. He also serves as a board member for the Gillette Children’s Hospital in Minnesota.
