SILVER SPRING, Md. [April 1, 2015] – Discovery Education’s Discovery Educator Network (DEN) invites teachers and administrators across the U.S., Canada and the United Kingdom to participate in the 2015 DENapalooza tour. This series of no cost professional development events offers attendees actionable new tactics and strategies for integrating educational technologies into classroom instruction, as well as unique opportunities to network with their peers. The DEN, a global community of education professionals supported by Discovery Education, connects members across school systems globally through social media, virtual conferences and in-person events, fostering valuable networking, idea sharing and inspiration.

The 2015 DENapalooza tour will visit 19 locations across the U.S., Canada and the UK over the next eight months. Each event will include a mixture of formal presentations by members of the Discovery Education community and the Discovery Education team on a number of relevant education issues, and interactive breakout sessions focusing on instructional strategies. In addition, attendees will have extensive opportunities to network in a relaxed environment designed to maximize sharing and learning. For instance, during “Strategy Sharing Showcases,” attendees can experience new ideas and resources that their fellow educators have used to engage learners and support academic achievement.

“The fresh tactics and strategies I learned at last year’s DENapalooza showed me innovative new ways to integrate digital content into instruction and evolve my classroom practice,” said Pam Inabinett, instructional coach at Dorchester School District Two in Summerville, S.C.  “In addition, having a local DENapalooza event in my community provided a great opportunity to network with other area teachers and explore solutions to challenges we were facing in our classrooms.  I’d encourage educators everywhere to make plans to attend this great, free professional learning opportunity.”

Supported by Discovery Education, the leading provider of digital content and professional development for K-12 classrooms, the DEN is one of the largest and most active communities of tech-savvy educators passionate about teaching with digital media, sharing resources, collaborating and networking. In 2011, researchers from the Harvard Graduate School of Education conducted a study of the DEN to determine how it has impacted educators’ professional development and their use of technology in their work, finding that 90% of study respondents believed their participation in the DEN had tremendously or very much supported their professional growth.
