Welcome Remarks and Opening Keynote: Dr. Jayshree Seth, 3M Corporate Scientist and Chief Science Advocate We’ll kickoff the day with a word from Dr. Jayshree Seth, who received her Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from the National Institute of Technology, Trichy in India. She then attended Clarkson University in New York where she earned her MS and PhD in Chemical Engineering. Jayshree has worked at 3M now for over 25 years, and she holds 72 patents for a wide variety of innovations.

The Inspiration and Innovation Path In a time when we are inundated with negativity, it is critically important to illuminate a pathway of hope. Inspiring science teaching, learning, and resources can illuminate this path and spark the innovation needed to transform the world. In this session, we will discuss the importance of preparing the next generation of Global Solution Seekers and encouraging additional students to join the path that 3M innovators are on. Participants will see how these ideas translate into ready-to-use activities that educators can use in lesson planning.

[OPTIONAL] YSC Challenge Finalist Presentations The annual Discovery Education 3M Young Scientist Challenge (YSC) invites students in grades 5-8 to submit a unique solution to an everyday problem.Watch the live stream event when the finalists will present their inventions and compete for the “America’s Top Young Scientist” crown. The winner will receive a scholarship and an exclusive 3M Mentorship to continue their work.
