About the Young Scientist Challenge
The annual 3M Young Scientist Challenge invites students in grades 5-8 to submit a 1-2 minute video describing a unique solution to an everyday problem for the chance to win $25,000 and an exclusive 3M Mentorship.
Ten finalists, up to 51 state merit winners, and four honorable mentions will be chosen for their passion for science, spirit of innovation and ingenuity, and effective communication skills. Learn more at: 3M Young Scientist Challenge

Recommended Hotels
We recommend staying in Downtown Saint Paul if you would like to stay overnight before the event. There are several options, including the Saint Paul Hotel, the Drury Plaza Hotel, the InterContinental Saint Paul RiverFront, and the DoubleTree in Saint Paul.
The Discovery Education room block at the Saint Paul Hotel has closed, but the hotel still has availability. Please call the hotel directly to secure accommodations if you have not done so already.
Participants are responsible for the cost of the hotel room nights, airfare, and transportation to and from the hotel.
