To celebrate the 7th annual Doodle 4 Google competition, Discovery Education stopped by the Google Headquarters to meet with the Google Doodlers. This virtual field trip introduces students to brainstorming ideas, digital design tools, and more!

In anticipation of the 2013 US Doodle 4 Google Scholarship competition, Discovery Education visits the Googleplex in Mountain View, CA to meet the doodle team artists and engineers. Get behind-the-scenes access to the doodle process, Q&A, and even a LIVE doodle-off!

Have you ever warmed up your body before playing a sport or dancing? Just like your body, it's important to warm up your brain, too! These classroom activities are designed to help K-12 classrooms stretch their creative muscles and warm up for the Doodle 4 Google competition. Kick-off your class' discussion with the short videos, and use the activities to get the creative juices flowing.

Activity Pack One: Imagine

Imagine is intended to help inspire creative thinking in your students. The activities focus on the first stage of the creative process, where students imagine what could be rather than what is. That includes generating ideas, asking questions, finding answers, and developing possible solutions.

Activity Pack Two: Create

Create is intended to help your students put their creative ideas into action as they embark on the Doodle 4 Google competition. The activities focus on the second stage of the creative process, where students begin to express their ideas through drawing, painting, or animation. The strategies introduced can be used in a wide variety of ways and contexts.

Share and Collaborate is intended to help your students see how sharing and collaborating with others can help refine their vision and make their final product the best it can be. The activities focus on the third stage of the creative process, where students explain their own creations and provide constructive feedback on the creations of others.
