Public Broadcaster Continues Commitment Providing Arkansas Educators and Students High Quality Digital Content

Arkansas Educational Television Network renews agreement with Discovery Education

Silver Spring, Md. (December 11, 2008) – Renewing their commitment providing Arkansas’ students and educators the largest and highest quality library of digital media available, the Arkansas Educational Television Network (AETN) recently agreed to a one-year extension of its agreement distributing Discovery Education streaming content to all public schools in the state.

Discovery Education streaming is delivered through AETN’s IDEAS web portal. A service of the Arkansas On-line Professional Development Initiative, IDEAS is a collaborative effort between AETN and the Arkansas Department of Education.

The digital video-based learning resource scientifically proven to increase academic achievement, Discovery Education streaming enhances educators’ curriculum with digital media and engages today’s technology-savvy generation in learning. Today, educators in more than half of U.S. schools learn with Discovery Education streaming.

According to Allen Weatherly, AETN Executive Director, “Teachers across Arkansas each day are challenged to inform, educate, motivate, and inspire students. Discovery Education streaming’s high-quality content makes it a powerful tool in this mission, and we at AETN are looking forward to continuing our relationship with Discovery Education.”

Successfully leveraging classroom technologies is an important component of any plan to educate and prepare today’s technology-savvy generation to compete in an increasingly global society. AETN is dedicated to furnishing Arkansas’ educators seamless access to online digital content and resources correlated to state educational standards. With more than 4,000 full-length videos segmented into 40,000 content-specific clips at their fingertips, educators in Arkansas maintain their ability to prepare students for the future with the latest, highest-quality digital assets.

According to Andy Schaefer, Discovery Education Vice President of Digital Sales, “Together, AETN and Discovery Education deliver outstanding digital media to the desktops of educators and students across Arkansas. We are pleased to continue our relationship with AETN and look forward to continuing our efforts to empower Arkansas teachers to improve student achievement.”
