Celebrate Polar Bear Week with Discovery Education and Polar Bears International in a dynamic event designed to spark curiosity and deepen understanding of animal adaptations. Broadcasting live from Churchill, Manitoba, this 25-minute event brings the Arctic straight to your classroom.
At the Arctic’s edge, every species is connected in ways that may surprise you. At the heart of this intricate web is the polar bear. More than a powerful predator, it serves as an ecosystem hub, supporting scavengers like Arctic foxes and ravens through the remains of its prey and influencing the behavior of other species through its changing hunting patterns.
Through the lens of Interdependent Relationships in Ecosystems (NGSS LS2.A), students will explore how one species’ survival is quietly tangled up in another’s, and how organisms depend on one another for survival in this extreme environment of the far north.
