Discover the history of the United Nations and its roles in the world throughout the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. Formed after World War II with the goal of maintaining world peace, the United Nations examines and proposes solutions to global problems like interstate conflicts, environmental concerns, and humanitarian crises. Member nations work together to supply peacekeeping troops in areas of conflict, distribute aid to victims of natural disasters, and negotiate treaties among nations.
